LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., June 24-26 - The Florida Minority Supplier Development Council (FMSDC) hosted the 26th Annual Conference and Expo at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The conference is considered the largest minority business conference in the southeast, and this year was no exception. Many corporations and minority business owners joined to celebrate FMSDC's 26th year anniversary, each other's achievements of 2008 and continue to build relationships.
The FMSDC Awards banquet proved to be a rewarding night for Walt Disney World Resort, as Disney was awarded 2008 Corporation of the Year for the second consecutive year. Disney was also honored for Buyer of the Year and Supplier Diversity Coordinator of the Year. Walt Disney World Resort executives, Richard Wertsching, Vice President Sourcing & Procurement - Parks & Resorts, Norbert Dean, Director of Sourcing and Procurement, Eugene Campbell, Vice President of WDW Community Relations and Minority Development, and Matt Thursam, Manager of Supplier Diversity, were in attendance to accept the awards. Awards are based on the 2008 calendar year and recognize the corporations, buyers, coordinators and minority businesses who distinguished themselves and their companies.
